Rain or shine, the sale will happen on Sunday the 9th, 2019.

Buying: Come to Bicycle Garage Indy's Greenwood (South) store (map) on Sunday, June 9th, 2019, (noon**** - 5pm) for great prices on used bicycles.  BGI's staff will help you find the right size and style to suit you. You'll also be advised as to any notably worn components and recommended service options. We expect to have a wide range of bikes available for sale at this event — road, mountain, hybrid, kids, etc. All used bikes are sold "as-is", but BGI's service department can perform any repairs or upgrades that you choose. Bike buyers will receive a $45 credit to apply to any labor charges that the purchased bike might need.

Check out BGI's Facebook page in the days leading up to the sale. We hope to feature some of the more interesting and attractive bikes that have been dropped-off for sale.

ADDITIONAL BUYER BENEFITS:

• $45 credit for bicycle services. Use this to get $45 off any service labor charges within 6 months, to be used on the purchased bike.
• $50 credit toward a Silver-level Fitting or Gold-level Fitting from our bicycle fitting services department.

**** We recommend being there at noon on Sunday. Past experience has shown that well over half of the available bikes are sold in the first 2 hours of the sale.

Consignment:
Turn your used bikes into cash or a BGI gift card by having BGI sell them during this one-day sale. You set the price! Take your bike to BGI's Greenwood store (map) between Friday 5/31/19 and Saturday 6/8/19. We'll assess it and help you choose a successful selling price. On the day of the sale, we'll do our best to sell it for you.

Eligible products:   All bikes must be safe to ride and in good condition*. Quality bicycles purchased and maintained at professional bicycle stores have the best chance of selling. Sorry, department-store bikes are not eligible**.  Bikes of all sizes, for all ages, and all price ranges are eligible. The following types of bikes are eligible but, due to limited storage space, can only be dropped-off on Saturday the 8th: trailers, tag-a-long bikes, tandems, recumbents, tricycles.

Drop off dates:  Friday, May 31st, 2019 through 3pm on Saturday, June 8th, 2019. No drop-offs are allowed on the day of the sale (Sunday the 9th).

Payment options:  When dropping off your bike, you'll choose to receive 1) a BGI gift card for 85% of the selling price, or 2) a check for 60% of the selling price. Gift cards and checks will be mailed to you no later than June 20th.

Communication of results:  By 10pm, Monday evening (6/10/2019), sellers will be able to see if their bike(s) sold or not.

Unsold bikes:  Sellers must pick up any unsold bikes during store hours (10am to 8pm) before 8pm on Wednesday 6/12/19. After that time, any unclaimed bikes will be donated to the Shifting Gears program.

*Bikes must be safe and ready to ride. BGI staff will review each bike at the time of drop-off. All safety / rideability issues must be resolved prior to the sale. If you think your bike will need some work, drop it off early in the drop-off period (before Wednesday the 5th). Our repair schedule tightens significantly in the last few days before the Sunday of the actual consignment sale.

**Examples of brands that are not eligible: Huffy, Kent, Magna, Motiv, Murray, Next, Roadmaster, Pacific, Schwinn (except pre-2002 Schwinn models). Bikes from those brands and other bikes sold through mass-merchants have very low resale value and are therefore ineligible.

Q) Can I shop the consignment bikes prior to 12 o'clock on Sunday the 9th?
A) Sorry, no. For everyone to have an equal and fair chance at finding the bike they want, all shopping must wait until noon on Sunday.

Q) If my bike doesn't sell on Sunday the 9th, can I trade it in using BGI's program?
A) Yes! We'll do our best to sell your bike during the consignment sale, but if we're unsuccessful, the trade-in program is available for most bikes. Learn more about which bikes are eligible and even check your bikes' trade-in allowances by visiting the web page for BGI's Trade-In Program.

Q) I heard that BGI takes trade-ins. How is that different from the "Used Bike Consignment Sale"?
A) There are several aspects that are different. In general, the consignment sale gives the seller the opportunity to set their own price and, if successful, come away with a greater reward. BGI's trade-in program offers speed & convenience. The trade-in process usually takes about 10 minutes and offers a fair value for used bikes.

  • Timing: BGI's trade-in program is available throughout the year and usually takes less than 10 minutes. The consignment sale is limited to a 9 day drop-off period followed by one day of selling.

  • Convenience: With consignment, there is a chance that any particular bike might not find a buyer on the day of the sale. Unsold bikes must be picked-up or donated. With the trade-in program, you can usually be completely finished in just a few minutes.

  • Pricing: In a consignment sale, the seller sets the price. With trade-ins, BGI has a 3rd-party tool that is used to determine the value. Sellers can potentially get a higher reward with consignment, when compared to BGI's Trade-In program.

  • Payout: With trade-ins, a BGI gift card is the only option for payment.  In a consignment sale, the seller has the option of receiving 60% of the selling price as a check in the mail, or 85% of the selling price in the form of a BGI gift card.

Q) What is the return policy for consignment bikes?
A) All sales of consignment bikes are final.

Q) I want to have BGI sell my used bike. Can I drop it off at the northside or downtown stores?
A) Sorry but the answer is no. Sellers must take their consignment bikes to the Greenwood store
